Call Google Advertisers via Skype - soon!

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

I just read on the Google talkabout blog that Google and eBay signed a contract to let Google Adsense ads contain Skype callto-links in the future. Meaning that you’ll be able to call advertisers directly via Skype whenever you see an “call-enabled” ad. A pretty nice feature.

Question with such a new contract is: who’s the one to pay? I say, it’s neither Google, nor Skype. Huh? Well, (more…)

Google Web Toolkit and RuzeeBorders

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

The Google Web Toolkit (GWT) is a pretty slick framework for writing AJAX based solutions in Java and then deploy everything as a pure JavaScript client application with RPC mechanisms to communicate with the server side. Google Maps and other Google services are based on that framework.

Google released it eight days ago and today I found out that Alexei Sokolov, who’s apparently one of the developers of the GWT, wrote a plugin/component for rounded corners. And guess which JavaScript library he used for that: My RuzeeBorders!

It supports the full API of RuzeeBorders, except the ID and class based selection of elements to round. But I guess the GWT has other means to acquire the right HTML elements… I definitely have to play around with it a bit. And you may as well, of course ;-).

Update: Another JavaScript library has a GWT plugin: The famous Script.aculo.us!

Yahoo Messenger on Google Adsense

Friday, January 27th, 2006

Google ’s got Google Talk. Instant messaging including VoIP for the masses. Yahoo ’s got Yahoo Messenger. Instant messaging including VoIP for … guess whom ;-). Funny thing: Yahoo’s buying ads for Yahoo Messenger at Google. Here’s a screenshot taken from my site:

I’m wondering if Google does the same on Yahoo ads… The “good” Internet. Nobody’s evil. Fascinating. Not meant ironic. Really.
